Anchor Rod Corrosion Study

FDH was contracted by a major tower owner to investigate the condition of buried guy anchors. If left undetected, corrosion can result in progressive weakening of the anchor steel and eventual failure. It is important to determine where anchors are at risk of corrosion, and implement corrosion prevention where conditions require it. FDH inspects and evaluates the soil characteristics and electrical currents, including a soil resistivity test, soil chemical analysis, guy wire stray current
measurement, excavation to visually inspect/clean/cold galvanization for corrosion protection, and documentation of sources of stray currents on and off site. FDH provides a full report to the owner, and where significant corrosion of anchor rods existed, provided a solution for reinforcement and repair.
